Motorbikes and the Dangers Associated With Riding One

posted on 15 February 2012

Motorcycles, much like anything in life that comes with noticeable risks and dangers, are something I have always struggled to make up my mind on. I'm a fan of motocross - in fact, my friend sells motocross helmets and I'm often lending him a hand at motorcross events. For motorbikes in general (riding on the roads), I understand that riding a motorbike offers a certain thrill that only riding a motorbike can offer, and it truly is a unique and exciting experience. On the other hand, I'll never let anyone convince me that there aren't very real and viable risks you take when you hop on a motorbike, and for that reason alone, I doubt you'll ever catch me on one. As long as my car can take me from point A to point B as safely as possible, I truly do not see the need for a motorbike in my life. I'd feel a lot safer if I were to get in a collision on the road in my car or truck than I would if I were to get sideswiped on a motorbike. I guess I've just heard about too many accidents or motorbike riders being seriously injured (or in some cases, passing away) while riding to ever find it in me to experience the thrill of riding for myself. Perhaps I would muster up the courage if they were redesigned and proven to be safer methods of transportation, but until then, you certainly won't catch me on one.
